13 Syrian rebel/activists gave their lives to get the 2 wounded French journalists out of Baba Amr, Homs. How can we let this go on?! #Syria

Apple has announced the iPad 3 event for March 7….
As an iPad 2 owner that’s not a problem for me personally but it seems like Adobe is shutting out a significant market of v1 owners for now.
Another big #Mac OS X 10.8 “Mountain Lion” change in Safari: The Search/URL fields are now unified. #Apple
More Mac OS X 10.8 “Mountain Lion” Dev Preview 1 observations: Safari tabs more iPad-like; domain in URLs now in black & rest of URL in grey
Also, Software Update now appears to be integrated into App Store.app (incl. system&bundled s/w updates, which were previously separate).
Of course, this being Dev Preview 1.0, past experience suggests some performance hit is normal for debug code overhead etc at this stage.
…Finder windows now show Mobile Backups item in Favorites column; performance of some things is faster, some things are noticeably slower.
10.8 ‘Mountain Lion’ DP1 impressions: now simply called “OS X” in About This Mac; Dock folder views are in reverse alphabetical order….

Jackie Major in Portland #Maine reports a possible earthquake a few minutes ago….anyone else in the area feel anything?
BTW, I just reset the password on our shared Amazon account, so Kindle suggestions are very welcome—scifi in particular if you please! :-)
Finally finished Iain M. Banks’ “Consider Phlebas,” his first novel; definitely not my favorite of his books. Had its moments, but

I was interested to hear reports from Debka.com about UK & Qatar special forces secretly helping the Free Syrian Army-but that isn’t enough!
…but what’s happening in #Syria is even worse that the horrors we saw in Libya last year; I do not see how we can sit idly by any longer.
It was hard enough seeing friends in Bahrain endure the strife there-I’m grateful that things seem better there now & hope to visit someday.
The situation in #Syria is so unbelievably heartbreaking….now I am no warmonger, but *something* has to be done. This cannot go on….
So-S8 is going to be the last for #House, a show which some of you know I’ve had mixed feelings about; thoughts? Finale should be good…
Excited, but also a little terrified, to begin this fiction/screenwriting class at Merrymeeting Adult Ed. in Topsham tomorrow night….

Was kind of bummed to hear that Avery Brooks (Cap’n Sisko from Deep Space 9) was busted for DUI. It’s hard out there for an Emissary….

I remember watching Challenger explode in 1986 and seeing Columbia’s doomed reentry with my own eyes over SF in 2003…I will never forget.
Today, Jan.26 is NASA’s Day of Remembrance for astronauts who have fallen in pursuit of humanity’s future among the stars. Rest in Peace….
